Philosophy of Mathematics
Being a Mathematician goes much deeper than just understanding how mathematics works. It involves being able to teach oneself the ability to think in different ways to help tackle complex problems. It also involves being able to work with the number system to determine and interpret different types of data and it finally means being able to apply what is learned to real world applications. An example of a real-world application that is highly math based and is growing at a rapid rate is Cryptology. In this field, Mathematicians are working around the clock to break new encrypted messages or they are trying to create an unbreakable enciphering method.
Mathematics arises in all areas of study from the Sciences to History. With this being said, the area of study that mathematics highly corresponds with is technology. The building block of technology is binary code, which is how data is sent and received by different devices. Binary code is a math based system that uses 0’s and 1’s to encode all data on a device. With technology growing everyday it is highly important for Mathematicians to think analytically, creatively, and quickly. By thinking this way Mathematicians can design, create, and implement new ways for solving and handling complex problems that are arising in technology every day. An example of a reoccurring problem in technology is hacking. Creating a detection and blocking code is highly important to protect a user’s data.
In conclusion, mathematics is not only fun and challenging, it is a way to express one’s different strategies problem solving. Mathematics also incorporates teamwork. Working with one another can speed the process for solving a problem and it can enhance the ideas of others.
